Orsi Academy offers a Basic Course in Robotic Liver Resection for surgeons at the start of their robotic HPB journey who want a solid foundation in robot-assisted hepatectomy. The program provides a comprehensive overview of the procedure, a structured set-up for liver resection, and a step-by-step approach to parenchymal transection using the robotic platform.
This 2-day course consists of:
- One day of hands-on training on the da Vinci system at Orsi Academy training labs on live animal tissue (porcine model).
- One day of live case observation with key steps and practical tips by Dr. Mathieu D'Hondt
What you will learn
- To comprehensively cover the robotic assisted hepatectomy.
- Having a structured overview of the robotic set-up for the liver resection including port placement and docking process.
- Learn step by step the parenchymal transection technique with the robotic approach.
Prerequisites
- The trainee has basic knowledge of the robotic system and familiarity with HBP procedures.
- The trainee bas experience in bedside assistance during liver resection or has performed approximately 5-10 cases.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to observe a live robotic liver resection. Dr. Mathieu D'Hondt will guide the procedure step by step, sharing practical tips and highlighting key considerations when performing this complex surgery.

Standard fee (incl. VAT)
Since this training is held in Belgium and Orsi Academy is the event organiser, Belgian VAT (currently 21%) must be charged on the participation fee, regardless of the participant’s country of establishment or VAT registration status.
The reverse charge mechanism does not apply to admission to physical events. Therefore, even EU VAT-registered businesses are subject to Belgian VAT for in-person training taking place in Belgium.
