Orsi Academy offers an Advanced 2-Day Course in Robot-Assisted Upper & Lower Urinary Tract Reconstruction for urologists with previous experience on the da Vinci robot and familiarity with upper & lower urinary tract reconstruction.

Proctored by top-experts Prof. Dr. Dmitry Pushkar, Prof. Dr. Konstantin Kolontarev, Prof. Dr. Barry McGuire and Prof. Dr. Alex Mottrie.

This 2-day masterclass consists of hands-on training on live animal tissue and theoretical sessions at Orsi Academy.

Prerequisites

  • Moderate experience with the da Vinci robotic system

Coffee break and change into scrubs

Hands-on session on live animal tissue (anesthetized porcine model)

  • Pyeloplasty: Participants will perform a standard robotic-assisted pyeloplasty. Ureteroureterostomy
  • (UU): Participants will perform UU following the pyeloplasty.
  • Augmented Buccal Mucosa Graft: Participants will then proceed to perform buccal mucosa graft (using chicken skin), and can repeat this procedure as many times as they want for practice.

Continuation of the hands-on session, with participants performing more practice runs for:

  • Pyeloplasty
  • Ureteroureterostomy
  • Buccal mucosa grafts

  • Distal ureter reimplantation (Psoas Hitch, Boari Flap)
  • Buccal mocusa ureterplasty

Theoretical session: anatomy, technique and approach

  • Anatomy and techniques in lower tract reconstruction
  • Anatomy of the lower urinary tract relevant to reconstruction
  • Psoas hitch technique: patient selection and execution
  • Boari flap: optimizing outcomes and complications

Theoretical session: extra insights

  • Reconstructive tips: incorporating buccal mucosa for distal ureter
  • Using buccal mucosa grafts in the distal ureter
  • Using appendix or other options
  • Managing reflux and anastomotic complications

Coffee break & change into scrubs

Hands-on session on live animal tissue (anesthetized porcine model)

  • Distal ureter reimplantation (Psoas Hitch, Boari Flap): participants will perform these techniques.
  • Buccal graft in distal ureter: participants will practice buccal graft reconstruction using chicken skin.

Since this training is held in Belgium and Orsi Academy is the event organiser, Belgian VAT (currently 21%) must be charged on the participation fee, regardless of the participant’s country of establishment or VAT registration status.
